NOTES : I'm aware that Dennis Ritchie was the co-creator of Unix but I said Linux for some reason and didn't notice until long after it was uploaded. My bad! Either way, it's like he did have a hand in the creation of Linux anyways since it's based on Unix, maybe he's like the grandfather, or estranged great-uncle ;)

Also, as for MacOS and BSD, I know MacOS's history involved a lot more such as NeXTSTEP/Mach OS/BSD/Darwin etc, but I only mentioned BSD because more people have heard of it and I didn't want to get into the whole evolution of Mac to keep the video shorter.

    Thanks for watching!

  • Zorin OS 15 Vs Linux Mint 19.1 | Which is the Best Linux Distro?

Zorin OS and Linux Mint are two outstanding Ubuntu-based Linux distros. In this video, we'll see how they compare against each other in terms of performance, speed, stability, user interface, gaming, community support and ease of installation.

Which among them is the best? Which among them is more suitable FOR You? Linux Mint or Zorin OS. Let's find out.

    Install Linux Mint Step-by-step:
    https://youtu.be/nLGFQjPsojg

    Install Zorin OS Step-by-step:
    https://youtu.be/H5-kF37AnFc

Zorin OS features the GNOME desktop environment that is extensively customized. The desktop looks very similar to Windows 7 interface by default and this is great for Linux newcomers.

Zorin OS is ridiculously easy to use. The windows button or the Zorin icon can be used to invoke the application search and launcher, which is very fast and user-friendly. The apps can be pinned to the panel. The indicators and icons are also conveniently placed.

But that's not all, Zorin os has an application called Zorin appearance from which You can completely revamp the way Your computer looks and behaves. You can either go with the streamlined look or this modern GNOME look which I totally dig.

The panel hovers slightly above the bottom edge and has intellihide. You can use the super button to open the activities overlay and also search apps from. In this preset, the desktop looks really modern and intuitive. I really loved what Zorin did here.

The theming is really good and there is a uniformity throughout all the apps installed on the system. Zorin OS scores top points for user interface.

Linux Mint, on the other hand, is famous for its homegrown Cinnamon desktop. Cinnamon has a very huge fan following. And looking at it, it's quite clear why.

Cinnamon desktop is highly intuitive, elegant and just so gorgeous to look at. The menu is organized and accessible. . Controlling your computer is really easy. Linux Mint's interface is quite amazing.

While the UI have been evolving to be more catchy and feature-rich, Linux Mint's cinnamon is so minimal while not missing out on anything essential. This makes Linux Mint home for a lot of people who just want to get work done on their computers.

Now, this doesn't mean Mint desktop is old fashioned or something. The latest Cinnamon is built using GTK+3 so it incorporates the latest GNOME technologies is compatible with all the themes and apps written for GNOME 3.

Cinnamon is also highly customizable with a wide range of themes and additional widgets called spices. The effects and animations are there, but not so much that they distract you from your work.

  • Ubuntu Vs Linux Mint | Which is the Best Linux Distro?

In this video, I will be comparing Ubuntu 18.04 and Linux Mint 19 side by Side and in depth, and as you know, I'll keep it short and on point.
Ubuntu and Linux Mint are the top 2 Linux distributions that come to mind when you want a stable, user-friendly and polished Linux distribution for your desktop or laptop.
Ubuntu and Linux Mint, are very close to each other and at the same time, miles apart.
Both of these distros have a passionate and loyal community behind them and the debate as to which of these two is better has been going on for years.
So which among them is the best? Which among them is more suitable FOR You? Ubuntu or Linux Mint. Let's find out.
I love both Ubuntu and Linux Mint. Ubuntu is a great distro which revolutionarised the way Linux is consumed. It made Linux accessible to millions of people. It also enabled the not so tech-savvy people to install and use Linux. And Ubuntu provides a great computing experience too.
Now Linux Mint used this amazing distro as the foundation and built on it. Polished it and made something beautiful out of it. Linux Mint just feels so much more natural. It's maintained a simplicity that is really appreciable. In a time where technology is changing and evolving every day, Linux Mint provides you a consistent and upto date computing experience that you'll just fall in love with.
