Now I don't normally do new user content to be honest, but I thought now might be the time to do it, so here we install Ubuntu 18.04 for the first time Linux user just to show you how easy and quick it really is for a first timer...niceMusic: Aces High - Funkorama by Kevin MacLeod is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution licence (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/)Source: http://incompetech.com/music/royalty-free/index.html?isrc=USUAN1100763Artist: http://incompetech.com/Twitter: @sneekylinuxMeWe: mewe.com/i/sneekylinux1

I myself came to UBUNTU my first linux distro and futher gradually improvised myself in linux and even installed gentoo and all that fancy stuff which broked and returned to debian and was on long time on debian. And i am now on MX Linux which even works for my family and friends.I manage all their workstations and intall MX on all my family and friends workstations because they are using firefox or chrome 99% of time ANYWAYS.#LINUXFOREVER
In defense of win10 instalation - you have to grab latest iso from their website and put it on usb stick - had no updates and had a sysyem running in no time. Remember the win 7 and xp days where 3 hours was a norm
I mostly like your content sneekylinux, but,....Isn't Ubuntu just a windows version of the linux desktop. I mean, their software center is first and foremost promoting closed source programs, from snaps I.o.w. the publishers source. That source can now push whatever updates they want if you subscribed to their snap. So, you go from one platform that does not offer freedom to another platform that does the same. And the same goes for data tracking in the back, were the gnome trackers can hardly be disabled by the non-tech user. And when it comes to desktop customization, Gnome is just terrible. It's even worse then the windows desktop. And well, systems resources, just look at htop. There is simply no point in moving from win10 to ubuntu. For people that want a free alternative (and not only money wise), it would be better to install MX linux, or just debian. Where MXlinux is really the easy alternative, that almost everyone can install within no time. It's also very snappy, and has a lot of ease of use features. The linux desktop was always considered to be the "free"alternative to ios and windows, by the home users of that linux desktop. Ubuntu is just gratis. And gnome....gnome...yeah. ubuntu has gnome. GNOOM.
years ago the installations used to ask so many questions and have so many options I didn't understand. ...not much of that now.
If you wanna buy a laptop for Linux. I highly recommend a refurbished ThinkPad (T61/T400/T410/T420/X61/X200/X201/X220) because they all have Intel hardware in it
