  • iOS 12.1.3 Battery Life Test : Has it improved over iOS 12.1.2?

So as always iOS 12.1.3 is out and many will wonder... Will it ruin my battery life, or will it improve my battery life over iOS 12.1.2

I try to figure that out by comparing iOS 12.1.3 vs iOS 12.1.2 in battery life using the battery life test of Geekbench 4.

First I run the test on iOS 12.1.2, then upgrade to iOS 12.1.3 and run the full test once more, and then compare the scores. All conditions kept the same in both tests. Room temperature this time was around 17 degrees celsius

Max Battery capacity of the phones are revealed in the video, and all are performing to max performance

The iPhone 6S are on TMSC chipset.

    Hope you enjoy the video.

    How Geekbench works :

Geekbench 4 battery scores measure the battery life of a device when running processor-intensive applications. It provides a consistent workload to the device, and generates a Geekbench score by evaluating the amount of work that it is able to do while the battery is discharging and the amount of time it takes for the battery to discharge.

The battery benchmark can be run in Full Discharge mode, from 100% to 0% battery level, to provide a high level of confidence in a device's battery performance. The battery benchmark can also be run in Partial Discharge mode, for 3 hours. If the battery benchmark is stopped after 10 minutes, by the user or by the battery reaching 0%, then the result will be saved and can be uploaded. Battery benchmark scores gathered by any method except the Full Discharge mode provide a medium level of confidence in a device's battery performance, and longer tests are more reliable.

When comparing scores, remember that higher scores are better, and double the score indicates double the performance.

  • Speed Test : iPhone 5S - iOS 12.2 Beta 2 vs iOS 12.1.3 (iOS 12.2 Public Beta 2 Build # 16E5191d)

iOS 12.2 Beta 2 has been released, personally I would have thought that we would have seen a fix for the facetime bug in an iOS 12.1.4 release but seems like Apple is sticking to its plan of releases. However we will see iOS 12.1.4 later this week according to many sources. But lets see.

Now time to test iOS 12.2 Beta 2 and see if they have made some
    improvements against iOS 12.1.3

  • Which iOS version has best Battery life? Testing iOS 10.3.3 iOS 11.4.1 iOS 12.2 and iOS 12.3 Beta 1

Since I started doing the battery tests a lot of the comments revolves around how earlier versions of iOS had longer battery life.
It has been hard for me to test that since the batteries in my phones had different wear, and it was not fair to put them up against each other in a test.
But I have now recently had all batteries in my 6S devices replaced with brand new batteries with 0 cycles. so they are top tuned, and made them perfect candidates for a cross iOS version battery test.

The test was done first by running the standard Geekbench battery test on all devices, and then doing a second run where a YouTube video counting down from 15 hours runs until all phones run out of battery.

Must say that the results are interesting. Sorry the video got a bit long, but that is how it goes.

I try to figure that out by comparing iOS 12.3 vs iOS 12.2 in battery life using the battery life test of Geekbench 4.

This time I run a side by side test using iPhone 6 and iPhone 6S all devices have new batteries with 100% health as shown in the video. Room temperature this time was around 21 degrees celsius.

The iPhone 6S are on TMSC chipset.

  • iOS 12.3.1 Battery Life Test : Has it improved over iOS 12.3?

So as always iOS 12.3.1 is out and many will wonder... Will it ruin my battery life, or will it improve my battery life over older versions of iOS, especially iOS 12.3

I try to figure that out by comparing iOS 12.3.1 vs iOS 12.3 battery life using the battery life test of Geekbench 4.
