The first is Threats, with it being the most dangerous aspect of cybersecurity from an organization's or individual's perspective. Examples include ransomware (the most dangerous), malware, phishing, spoofing and backdoor attacks.

Security Defenses
The second major category or area that cybersecurity can fall under is Defenses. While equally important, cybersecurity defenses can pose less of a threat if basic mechanisms are in place to help protect an individual or organization. Examples include application security, information security, network security, operational security as well as disaster recovery and planning.
